Introduction

File Server Migrator allows you to migrate files, directories, shares, security permissions, auditing rules, ownership, timestamps, local users and groups. It can also search for, replace and clean Security Identifiers on a remote host's filesystem and registry. This industrial strength file copier will do everything else ordinary file copiers won't do and more!

 

File Servers usually serve as a common network repository of files for the entire network to access. When copying these files to a new server, any permissions defined for local users or groups cannot be copied as those objects do not exist on the destination host. This is because such objects are not identified by name, but by their unique Security Identifier allocated to it by the owner machine.

 

File Server Migrator will identify these Access Control Entries and map them to the correct user or group on the destination host. If that user or group does not exist, they too can be copied across.
