Migrating local users and groups

To copy local users and groups from a remote machine to the local machine:

  1. Make sure you have configured your source and destination servers.

You can approach this in four ways:

  2. To copy users and groups referenced as encountered in remote filesystem ACLs use the File Copy Screen.

Example: Migrating local users home folders (i.e. Documents and Settings) between servers.

  3. To copy users and the groups they are members of, use the User Copy Screen.

In this case, any groups who do not contain the selected users as members will not be copied.

  4. To copy copy groups and their member users, use the Group Copy Screen.

In this case, any users who are not members of these groups will not be copied.

  5. To copy all users and all groups, use both   User Copy Screen and Group Copy Screen .

You will need to supply a default password for any users you copy.
